OUR BEEF
The beef on Arden Farm grows slowly on pasture, grown and finished. We aim for a 24 month growth period for the cattle, as over the years we have found this to be an optimal time to produce beautiful beef, given our pasture, and our seasons. Low stress handling of our cattle, brings out the best in the meat, along with the 28 days dry ageing.
This said, the meat requires, to a large extent, a different cooking style to what you may have been used to.

OUR CHICKEN
We choose to raise traditional chicken, ranging from Australorp, Light and Buff Sussex through to Faverolle. They grow slowly on pasture in our orchard, for up to 20 weeks, supplemented with locally grown wheat.
The meat is dark and gamey, predominately on the legs. By selling whole birds, intervention to this free-range, natural product is minimal and it allows you to use the whole bird – nothing is wasted!

OUR PACKAGING
We choose to use Grounded Packaging for all our cuts of beef . The product is 100% home compostable.
As all the cuts in your box are cryovaced, and the packaging is not plastic, please check the seals as you store the meat as occasionally the seals may not be tight. This does not effect freezing the meat, just longevity in the fridge.
*bone guard is currently not available from Grounded Packaging so the bone-in cuts, are in plastic
THE ADDITIONS
If you manage nothing else in your vegetable patch, we highly recommend growing some carrots, onion, leeks - all year round and they require little maintenance! and potatoes and garlic seasonally – as they store well.
